After the devastation of the "Dust Bowl" in 1935, Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration pushed for the Soil Conservation Services to create programs that assisted local farmers.
In 1945 Pennsylvania conservation districts were formed under the State Conservation Law Act 127 to provide conservation of soil, water, and other related resources.
The Bradford County Commissioners passed a resolution in 1956 declaring the county a Soil Conservation District- creating what is now called the Bradford County Conservation District!
